As vaccinations ramp up and governments around the world focus on reopening and recovery, COVID -19 infections are surging in many areas and virus variants loom. We can’t put this pandemic in the rear-view mirror no matter how hard we try.

COVID cases are up in more than 27 states across the U.S., with Michigan reporting the highest level of daily new infections on a per capita basis, according to CNBC. Hospitalizations are on the rise, ICUs are filling up, and a growing number of young people are among the victims.

The news out of India is just heartbreaking.

Dose of hope

Vaccinations are becoming more widely available in many countries and states – with FANTASTIC results:

US officials halted distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week after six reports of rare blood clots, but other drug makers are picking up the pace.
